Adapting to the New FNHURS Rules Impacting Florida Nursing Homes
/The healthcare industry is constantly evolving, and organizations must adapt to new regulations to remain compliant and successful. At the direction of House Bill 539 (2022-49, L.O.F.) and Senate Bill 2518 (2021-041, L.O.F.) the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (“AHCA”) proposed three new rules within Chapter 59E-4 to establish a uniform system for financial reporting by nursing homes and nursing home’s home offices. Collectively, the rules and the online reporting system establishes the Florida Nursing Home Uniform Reporting System (“FNHURS”).
The published rules are currently in their comment period with the deadline of July 13, 2023, to submit any comments to AHCA. In addition, AHCA will host a rule hearing on July 20, 2023, to allow additional public comments on the proposed rules and financial reporting system. It is also important to note that in addition to the proposed rules, AHCA has opened a new financial reporting system (“FNHURS Online System”) and related FNHURS Manual.
